One of the arguments against paper bags is that they are harmful to the environment. Trees need to be cut down to make paper. It stands to reason that paper bags are also responsible for the cutting of trees. But there is very little truth in this. Many paper bags are used on recycled paper. In this sense, the paper bags actually benefit the environment. They extend the use of paper products and help reduce the amount of trash in landfills. But it doesn't stop here for the paper bags. Paper bags have become more environment-friendly with the introduction of bamboo paper.
Bamboo paper, as you may have guessed, is made of bamboo. Bamboo is perfect for making paper bags. Its fibers are very strong which makes very strong paper. This is very much needed for paper bags used to carry heavy items. Despite being the more environment-friendly option, people still long for plastic bags for loading strength. The strength of bamboo fibers is changing this.
Bamboo paper is biodegradable and it degrades quickly. This makes it very easy to dispose of.
And bamboo grows fast. Many species can grow as much as 60 centimeters per day. And it does not require replanting. It grows right back after cutting. This makes bamboo farming quite easy and a sustainable resource. What makes it even better is that bamboo can grow in depleted soil that other plants would struggle to survive in. In fact, bamboo actually nourishes the soil and helps protect against erosion.
There is a good reason why the bamboo paper is becoming popular. I think it is high time for more businesses to use bamboo paper for paper bags.
