Earth day was just a few days ago. It is not a holiday that gives us time off from work. However, it is an excellent way to remind us to think how our actions affect the environment. It gets people to talk more about the environment. So here we are, we will be talking about gift boxes with regards to the environment.
Gift boxes are essential to businesses. This is hardly a news. It makes products more marketable by giving them another purpose. Customers are able to see the potential of products as gifts and not just for their primary uses. This gives customers another reason to buy from the store.
Unfortunately, gift boxes get thrown after use. No matter how pretty. By offering gift boxes, stores are basically adding to waste volume in landfills. However, it does not have to be this way. There are eco-friendly gift boxes using recyclable materials and reusable designs. There are also sustainable raw materials like bamboo.
Now, eco-friendly boxes are not going to take off so soon. Nothing ever happens instantly. Packaging manufacturers are not going to suddenly change their operation and technology to adopt new materials. There are massive costs involved. But as long as businesses do not stop demanding eco-friendly options from suppliers and manufacturers, there will be improvements, even if slowly.
